Oh Lord filter my thoughts
Loneliness is eating at me
I want to scream
This sense of loss
Created by his passing
It’s making me insane
All I think are
Regrets
Guilt
Denials
I have so much unforgiveness
Inside my heart
I wonder
Should I
Have done more
Done less
Hoped often
Prayed even more
Answers I seek
With no questions to ask myself
Filter my thoughts

“God Filter My Thoughts 3” is a poem about emotional overwhelm in the aftermath of loss, where grief becomes so intense that it begins to feel mentally and spiritually unmanageable.
The poem is not only mourning someone’s passing but also struggling with the internal chaos that follows, feelings of loneliness, guilt, regret, and confusion all occurring at once.
The poem expresses a desire for relief from intrusive and painful thoughts. The repeated plea to “filter my thoughts” suggests a wish for divine intervention or emotional cleansing, as the speaker feels unable to control their own mind.
Grief is portrayed here not as a quiet sadness, but as something consuming and destabilizing, affecting mental clarity and emotional balance.
It also highlights the way loss often triggers self-blame and overthinking. The speaker becomes trapped in cycles of “what if” questions, questioning whether they did enough, said enough, or acted correctly.
This reflects a common experience in grief, where the mind searches for meaning or responsibility in an attempt to make sense of death, even when no clear answers exist.
The poem further shows how grief can blur emotional boundaries, mixing guilt, regret, denial, and longing into a single overwhelming state. The lack of resolution in the speaker’s thoughts emphasizes how loss can leave a person mentally restless, unable to find closure or peace.
Overall, the poem reflects the psychological weight of grief and the desperate desire for mental relief. It presents mourning not just as sadness, but as an internal struggle with thoughts that feel uncontrollable, showing a longing for peace, clarity, and emotional silence in the face of overwhelming loss.
