You keep checking in the mirror
Nose twitching in disappointment
Lips curled as if about to tear up
You see only the surface of beauty
Criticizing your true self
Everything about you is gorgeous
Your voice sing songs in the night
Scratching away deserts of sorrow
You hate how your chest drops
You see not what I see
But you’re beautiful
You keep avoiding the mirror
Eyes tightly shut in shame
You feel less of a magnificent creature
Hiding behind veils of bulky hair
Swiftly walking past eyes that stare
Everything about you is wonderful
Those eyes I could drown in forever
Arms I yearn to be in forever
You don’t want me to look at you
But you’re beautiful
You say I’m beautiful?
Yes, Beautiful in every sense
